Troubleshooting Excel: Formulas Won’t Update

Sometimes the cells with formulas won’t update when you change the cells (like in the Ice Cream Catering Contract). You’ll learn how to adjust your settings in Excel back to update all formulas automatically.


  1. Click the File tab on the top left
  2. Click the Options tab on the left pane to open up the Options Window
  3. In the Options Window, click the Formulas tab on the left pane
  4. Under Calculation options / Workbook Calculation, click Automatic
  5. The formulas should now automatically update when you change a cell
